That
car is not stylish, it is a cheappiece
of junk |
All
I remember about it is the strange offset rear number plate. |

The Ford Escort
XR3 is the best car of `80s.
Yo estoy orgulloso de mi unidadan
hoy es competitivo en lineas y poder. saludos
Gustavo |
So you've nominated
your XR3, and yet you say it's the best car of the '80s (and you're
proud of it) - now I'm confused. |

these
cars are a load of bo!!*c#s I have had one for 6 weeks and they have
let me down at the worst of times |
Are
you sure you're not letting the bad experience colour your aesthetic
judgement? |
| Ford Escort Mark
III |
Stephen Walton |
Called the Mark
Three presumably because that's how many bullets it took to kill the
designer, OK so the Mark 2 was ugly, but at least it didn't handle
like a dog, and fall to bits if you as much as look at it. Why do
so many people like it?! |
People didn't
necessarily like it - they just bought it. |

The
upholstery and wonderful half vinyl roof were worth the nomination
alone. Coupled with the kind of styling that made a mark 2 Vauxhall
Viva look cool, this has to make the cut. The crowning glory was achieved
by those tortured souls who managed to find an Esso 'Tiger Tail' and
tied it to the ariel. Best of luck trying to find a photo. |
Well
I'll just try and imagine how awful it was. |
| Peugeot 309 &
505 |
Richard |
The Peugeot 309
is absolutely awful, and unfortunately my dad has one! It is just
plain and simply pig ugly. Actually, that's quite an insult to pigs.
And as for the 505, well what can you say ... Peugeot have excelled
at making such an enormous estate car with the looks infinitely worse
than the 309. Completely hideous! You have to wonder if they will
follow on their current trend and redesign it as the 506? Lets hope
not. |
I agree - the
505 was pretty awful. |
| Datsun
120Y |
Tony |
This
car has the most hideous rear end design - ever! The frontal view
is not much better.
PS It might be the 120J or
140Y - the 1970's were a long time ago! |
They
certainly were - but they produced loads of lovely ugly cars for us! |

The Citroen DS
and BX MUST be taken off this site - they are beautiful cars, curvy
, then angular, but futureistic even today. Great cars, great suspension
- the 1st of its kind ever - so good infact, that Rolls Royce baught
the design from Citroen. Please take them off, please!! |

Well

| Volvo 244 Estate |
Steven Hedley |
I used to run
a valeting business and Volvo estates were always my nemesis! What
is it about Volvo drivers and their incessant need to horde as much
crap as possible inside the car? I also would like to know why Volvo
equipped them with indicators as the drivers apparently have no
need for them! Great site, awra best, Steven |

Although
not released yet, look at any picture, and I'm sure you'll agree with
me, the front of the car is simply hidious. |
Too
much chrome too. |
| Volvo 480 |
Tim Poultney |
It looks like
a wedge of brie, and the light clusters are*really*
nice. Apparently it's the only japanese designed Volvo, I wonder why? |
Steady on - I
happen to like Brie. |
| Suzuki
X-90 |

Mac |
It
just looks craaaaaaaap. Why
take what would be a perfectly usable 4 seater off-road type car and
chop off the headroom where the seats should go ? Then try and say
it's a sporty 2 seater...Hmmmm... |
Look
out for the X-90 in Part 3. |

Want an exclusive
exotic Italian beauty? Can't afford a ferrari? Always walk around
showrooms with beer goggles on? Always had a secret hankering for
a Cortina with X-pack bodykit but been afraid to tellanyone?
Then this ugly old bird is definitely the one you want to wake up
next too !! (I'll try and get you a piccie off the net if anyone wants
to admit to this!) |
Can't argue with
that. |

shameless plug for your own web page. |
| Citroen Visa |

One of the ugliest
backsides of any car ever. It also made you seasick. |
An ugly Citroen
? - surely not? |
| Fiat
126 |
Peter
Clark |
Surely
one of the ugliest little boxes on the planet. Why on earth did Fiat
design a car powered by a hair dryer engine, when in fact, there was
only just enough room for the engine in this hideous little monster! |
...and
don't call me Shirley... |
| Peugeot 206 |
Paul |
It looks all
wronk. The front, back and sides were designed by chimps who simple
took a MPV and squashed down to small car size and then put some ridiculous
bonnet vents (to make it look REALLY sporty?). Strange car |
The jury is still
out on this one. |
| Tatra

Bill
McCoskey |
Just
look at a photo of one from the front, it looks like a bomb blew up
inside the front boot! By the way, love your website, I collect ugly
older cars (and beautiful younger ladies), I've got a Tatra, and have
several Citroens, Vanden Plas Princess Limo (that's another one for
the list I think!), and lots of "fin" cars from the USA. I welcome
your contact too. I often travel to the Uk on car related business |
You're
a true hero Bill, and a sucker for punishment too by the sounds of
it. |
| Frogeye Sprite |
Dave Williams |
I'm surprised
this one hasn't already reared it's ugly little head. Well named and
for some twisted reason hailed as cute by classic car buffs. Time
to face up to the fact that it was and still is GROSS |
An excellent
suggestion - and now included in Part 4 |
| Fiat

This
awful little car surley deserves a mention. The Italians obviously
designed this for 'the female market'. Well we all know what a sexist,
macho lot the Italians are... So the bloke gets the Ferrari and his
wife gets this square-ended, tiny piece of tin with a dangerously-high
looking centre of gravity. They've got rid of it now. The main need
for a paper bag here is to be sick into. |
Has
nobody nominated this before? |
| Renault 9 |

I saw someone
nominated the R 11. Well, its litte saloon brother was even worse. |
I'm just glad
somebody reads the other nominations! |

As

| Marcos (any) |

almost to the point of being a joke
|
I'm not a fan
of the Marcos either. |

A

My music teacher
had an orange one! Perhaps they came up with the name to suggest what
should have happened to the designer of this hideous beast. |
I remember this
one - it was a bit strange to say the least. |
